American Tree Farm System

Landowners may choose a Certified Family Forest^™ or Certified Tree Farm^™ sign to display on their property. The first sign is free and is provided by the state Tree Farm program. Landowners may purchase additional signs at [link to sign ordering form]

Enrolled landowners receive at least one visit from a forester or other conservation professional who certifies that their land is managed according to the Standards of Sustainability. These visits are coordinated by State Tree Farm Programs.

Program participants are invited to attend events hosted by their state Tree Farm program and its partners that promote education and connection with other landowners.

State Tree Farm programs recognize exemplary stewardship through Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year (OTFY) Awards. State Outstanding Tree Farmers of the Year may also be nominated by their program for Regional recognition. Every year, the American Forest Foundation recognizes on National Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year selected from Regional Finalists. Read about this year’s finalists.
